I have definitely a romantic approach of photography. Taking photos is a lonesome activity, but on the other hand this can be a way to meet people. A camera is a transaction artifact that allows a particular relation to the world that surrounds us. Looking at the world through this little window certainly helped the shy teenager I was at that time to overcome his fears. But what I love above all is to experience the intensity of this very particular moment when I press the shutter, like if time was suspended. I love the emotional and poetic force of black and white pictures. I distille quietly and patiently the impressions and fugitive emotions I meet here and there along my way and I try to capture some intense moments for sharing them.

In Benin the Klui-Klui is adeep fried arachide stick. Klui-Klui is made by groups of women that sell them on the market. It is a basic source of revenue for many families. I love the smiles and the simplicity of these faces. Their dignity is very impressive. Men are occupyed by running the machines. But they also mostly build and repair them. Their innovative capacity is impressive!

Espace Théatral saison 2000 (17 pictures)

In 2000 I had the chance to follow a theatre group that played in incongruous places. Joinery, old church, car washing station, buchery, car garage are some of the typical places where they performed.

Le moulin de Tencin - Old mill of Tencin (8 pictures)

Do never forget that: if you open your eyes you will see some suprising things... Here just a few minute from my home in France, an industrial valley in the Alpes, their is an old mill where people still make oil such as our grand parents did or even before. The gestures are the same, skills from long ago, still alive. Remember Salgado's work when you look at these pictures.

For French speakers: Qu'on ne s'y trompe pas, cet endroit n'est pas un musée, on n'y vient pas pour voir comment on faisait l'huile de noix autrefois. On y travaille et on...

 Saïgon (11 pictures)

Between 2000 and 2001, two visits in Saigon were the starting point of this work. Mainly taken by night these pictures illustrate my feeling of this huge and ever moving town. Traditions are still alive despite the modern face of the city. A paradoxical environment where the youngs do not see the olds and are attracted by the lights of the modern age.
